Self-assertiveness is based on balance: It requires being candid about your needs and wants while thinking about other’s rights, conditions, and wants. When you have self-assertiveness, you are confident and attract power to make yourself clear firmly, decently, and with empathy.

Aggressive behavior is based on winning: This behavior is doing what is in your own best interest without respect for the rights, necessities, feelings, or desires. Also, if you are aggressive, you tend to be selfish.

 

The Practice of Living Purposefully

Living purposefully is one of the pillars of happiness. It does not imply you cannot be cheerful without a purpose. However, it will be more challenging to discover long-term happiness without the practice of living purposefully.
